More than a month after he was booked on charge of dowry death of his wife Geetanjali Garg, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Gurgaon Ravneet Garg has been transferred to Jagadhari in Haryana.
His transfer orders were issued on Thursday by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Garg has been posted as Secretary, legal services, Jagadhari.
Garg was booked after his wife Geetanjali’s body was found inside the Police Lines compound in Gurgaon on July 17 with four bullet injuries.
While police initially claimed it was a case of suicide, Geetanjali’s family alleged she had been murdered.
Four days after the incident, a case of murder was lodged and sections relating to dowry death were added three days later.
The case is presently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The family of the deceased had also approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking suspension of Garg pending investigation. The family had said as long as Garg was CJM, there would be very little chance of an unbiased investigation.
The family had also filed a petition seeking custody of Garg’s children.
