Hundreds of students were left waiting as colleges in Gurgaon failed to roll out their first cut-off list for various undergraduate courses on Wednesday afternoon.
‘There is a technical problem in the servers in Panchkula, where the cut-off list was to be released. We too have been waiting as the list was supposed to reach us by afternoon,” Sushma Chaudhary, principal, Government P G College, Gurgaon said while blaming the delay on the snag.
The three major government colleges — Dronacharya Government college, Government PG College and Government College in Gurgaon — offer 15 undergraduate courses.
“Of these 15 courses, we only received cut-offs for three courses — BCom, BSc (non-medical) and Bachelors of Tourism Management (BTM) — till afternoon,” Chaudhary said.
The cut-off for BSc was 93 per cent while for BCom it was 91 per cent in the General category.
Students who applied at these colleges are upset and angry with the delay.
“We have been waiting for the cut-off list since morning. Now, we will have to wait for another day. We faced the same problem even when we applied for admissions online,” Ritu Kumari, who is seeking admission in Bachelor of Arts, said.
Even though students will receive a notification regarding the cut-off list on their mobile phones, many preferred going to colleges to see the list.
The three government colleges in Gurgaon that are set to open on July 16 have received about 26,000 applications. Colleges are hopeful that the complete cut-off list will be updated by Wednesday night.
