Harpal’s brace helps GMSSS-37 triumph

Harpal Singh continued his scoring spree as he netted a brace to steer Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, to an easy 3-0 win over hosts Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, in the boys U-19 category of the UT inter school football tournament held at Government Model Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 22 on Friday. Mobasher opened the account for GMSSS-37 in the fifth minute of the play. Harpal then scored two quick goals in the 20th and 30th minutes.

In another match, Shubham scored the lone goal as PML SD School, Sector 32, managed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22. Meanwhile, Ude Sandhu came up with a brilliant hat-trick to help Vivek High School, Sector 38, beat MHC MM 3-0.

In the boys U-19 football tournament, Sumit (17th) and Ednin Jones (55th) were on target as St Soldier School, Sector 28, defeated DAV School, Sector 8, 2-0 in a lop-sided encounter. Similarly, in the girls U-19 football tournament, Jaspreet and Sharika netted a brace each as Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, thrashed Ryan International School, Sector 49, 4-0. In another match, Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, humbled Mt Carmel School, Sector 47, 3-0. Junior international Soumiya netted a brilliant hat-trick for the team.

Meanwhile, in the inter school swimming tournament, Mehful Goel of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, won gold in 100m breaststroke event in the boys U-14 category. He clocked 1:45.66. The winner in the 100m freestyle event in the boys U-14 category was Samar Toor of DPS-40 with a timing of 1:04.74.
