After hearing the arguments pertaining to the bail application of the suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) city and headquarters Desh Raj, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has reserved the order for December 14. These orders will decide if the IPS officer will be released on bail or not.
Earlier, a Special CBI Court had dismissed his bail application on charges that his being released may hamper the course of investigation for the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Sources in the CBI had said that statements of the witnesses have been recorded. However, the CBI is yet to get a sanction from the Ministry of Home Affairs to prosecute the IPS officer.
The arguments held on Monday in the Punjab and Haryana High Court were similar to the ones for his first bail application. The counsel for Desh Raj, Vishal Garg Narwana, argued that alleged conversations between Inspector Anokh Singh and IPS officer Desh Raj Singh had many blanks and words like “probable” and “not available”. He stated that the context of the conversation cannot be established by these conversations.
He also argued that his presence with his family is necessary due to the ailment of his daughter. However, the CBI replied that there are other family members who can take care of the child very well.
