HCC bags Devadula Lift Irrigation ? phase III order

HCC in joint venture with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures has bagged a prestigious contract of J. Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme.

HCC (Hindustan Construction Company), a leading infrastructure construction and development company, in joint venture with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) and CKD Blansko Engineering, Czech Republic (CBE), has bagged a prestigious contract of J. Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme, Phase III, Package 1 from the Irrigation & Command Area Development (ICAD) department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This order is worth Rs. 1398.50 crore (HCC share Rs 629.33 crore) for the construction of three rows of 38.75 km each of 3 meter-diameter pipeline from the existing intake on river Godavari at Gangaram village to Bheemghanpur tank in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.

The contract covers investigation, design and laying the pipeline in three rows to carry 49.60 cumecs of water from the intake pump house to Bheemghanpur tank and execution of civil, electro-mechanical, hydro-mechanical, instrumentation, auxiliary and miscellaneous equipment at intake pumping station, including SCADA communication system.

The project will be completed in 36 calendar months. This project will irrigate an ayacut of 3.43 lakh acres in Warangal district of Telangana region. This is a part of the government?s historical programme named ?Jalayagnam?, an initiative to provide immediate irrigation benefits to all underdeveloped regions of Andhra Pradesh

HCC is currently involved in the construction of Godavari Lift irrigation phase I and Phase II in Andhra Pradesh where Phase I has already been commissioned and Phase II is in advanced stages of completion. In addition, HCC is currently executing four major projects in Andhra Pradesh including India?s first cavern for strategic storage of crude oil at Visakhapatnam, the Veligonda lift irrigation project, the Rajiv Sagar lift irrigation project and a 30 km highway of NHAI on NH-7 under the north-south corridor on BOT basis.

HCC?s relationship with Andhra Pradesh goes back to the 1930s when it constructed the first bridge over the river Godavari at Shahgarh. Since then it has built several infrastructure projects including the Godavari Barrage at Rajahmundry, the Papavinasam Dam, the Vizag Monolith & West Wall Protection and the Railway Bridge over Godavari which is the first and only bow-string bridge in India.

HCC has built several landmark projects in India?s hydro power and water resources sector, with at least 10 of these situated in the geologically challenging Himalayan region. Having also constructed over 45 dams, barrages and 15 powerhouses in the Indian subcontinent, HCC has contributed to over 30 per cent of India?s installed hydropower capacity.
