Honda Cars India today said it has achieved a sales milestone of 30,000 units for its newest compact sedan in the country.
The Honda Amaze, introduced in April, clocked the fastest 30,000 sales for any new model in the company's history in the country, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement.
"We are ecstatic with the overwhelming response received for Amaze since the launch," HCIL Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen said.
Since the launch of the Honda Amaze, HCIL's sales have surged to record a growth of 65 per cent during the April-July period from the same period last year.
"Honda Amaze has helped us to reach out to many new customers and bring them into the Honda fold. Out of the total Amaze customer base, more than 80 per cent are first-time Honda buyers," Sen added.
To meet growing customer demand and reduce the waiting period for the Honda Amaze, HCIL recently announced that it will start a third shift of production at the Greater Noida plant from November.
Car sales in India declined 7.4 per cent in July, falling for the ninth month in a row, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
