Honda Cars India eyes growth in double digits as it gears up to launch Mobilio, Jazz

Honda Cars India is gearing up to enter MPV segment with the seven-seater Mobilio in Q2.

Honda Cars India said it expects to grow in double digits this fiscal as it gears up to enter the multi-utility vehicle (MPV) segment with the seven-seater Mobilio in the second quarter followed by the new diesel-engine Jazz hatchback launch later in the year.

Honda’s annual sales had grown 83% last fiscal, when cars sales fell for the first time in more than a decade, on the back of Amaze compact sedan that features the carmaker’s first diesel engine. While achieving the same pace will not be possible this year because of the increased base, the carmaker is confident of robust growth.

?This year also, we will have a double-digit growth but part of it will depend on the volumes of the Mobilio which we are still working upon,? said Jnaneswar Sen, senior VP (marketing and sales) of Honda Cars India. The Mobilio enters a segment dominated by Toyota Innova, but it will be a smaller vehicle with a length of 4.4 metre.
