In an attempt to boost vehicles sales in the slowdown-hit domestic automobile market, Japanese auto major Honda today launched the fourth generation of its City sedan in both petrol and diesel versions in India.
The petrol version of the City will be available at a price between Rs 7.42 lakh and Rs 10.98 lakh and diesel will be available in a price band of Rs 8.62 and Rs 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
“With the unveiling of the all new City, we entering a new phase of trying to regain dominance in the premium car segment,” said Hironori Kanayama, president and chief executive officer, Honda Cars India.
The new City will compete with Hyundai Verna, Renault’s Scala, Nissan Sunny, Volkswagen Vento, all available in diesel-powered options.
Kanayama added, “We had a disadvantage in the diesel segment, but now with both Amaze and City coming in diesel versions, we will have a better play in the market.”
