The cyber crime cell of Pune police has been nominated among the top three law enforcement agencies with excellence in capacity building. The nominations were announced by the Data Security Council of India at an event in Delhi recently, said a release issued by the cyber crime cell.
Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (cyber crime and economic offences), said, “We have set up a cyber crime laboratory, an unique centre for training, investigation and research in cyber crime. A large number of officers have received training at the centre.”
The cell has played a major role in creating Standard Operating Procedure for cyber crimes in the state and has also been instrumental in setting up cyber crime squads at police stations in the city. The cell has conducted several awareness drives on social networking sites.
