Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has urged Union power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to recommend allocation of 7.5 MMSCMD of natural gas for the proposed 2×750 mw gas-based power plant in Faridabad. Hooda said that since the proposed plant falls in the NCR region, it will be based on natural gas. Moreover, a gas-based power plant is required in the state to meet the demand.
Shinde responded positively to Hooda?s request and said he would consider it. The chief minister also said that Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL) plans to set up 1×660 mw supercritical unit at Yamunanagar. Another coal-based power project is also proposed to be set up in Sonipat district. Both these plants will require long-term coal linkage and Shinde has agreed to support the requests for coal requirements.
