Hunger for power made Arvind Kejriwal align with Cong: Harsh Vardhan

Vardhan also demanded an investigation into allegations of corruption against Sheila Dikshit.

Leader of the BJP legislative party Harsh Vardhan on Thursday rubbished the AAP?s claim of forming a government on the basis of a city-wide referendum.

?There are more than one crore voters in Delhi. But during the self-planned mohalla sabhas, you took the opinion of 500 people who wanted you to form the government. You neglected those who have voted for you. You trusted 4-5 lakh SMSes, whose source is under suspicion… What was the compulsion to form the government with the help of the Congress? People have a right to know,? Harsh Vardhan said, addressing the AAP and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Quoting the chief minister who had applauded the voters for ?voting for the most honest party?, he said, ?Kejriwalji you were right. We (BJP) got most of the seats and votes. Yet we are sitting in Opposition because, like you, we believe in corruption-free politics. We are amazed at how you cheated your voters and joined hands with the country?s most corrupt party to form the government.?

The BJP leader also demanded an investigation into allegations of corruption against the former chief minister. ?You spoke of sending Sheila Dikshit to prison and listed it as your first task after coming to power. But, when I asked you to fulfil your promise, you asked me for proof. Did you have proof when, while seeking votes, you were alleging corruption against the Congress ministers?? he said.

Harsh Vardhan also spoke of soured relations between Kejriwal and Anna Hazare. He accused the AAP government of being power hungry and neglecting their mentor.

He also criticised the AAP for its comments on Kashmir and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma who was killed in the Batla House encounter. ?They should apologise for meeting a terrorist,? he said. He questioned Kejriwal on the financial assistance he reportedly received from the Ford Foundation.
