India’s largest hotel to come up in Amritsar

The largest hotel in India is coming up in Amritsar at a distance of nine km from the Golden Temple. The property is being developed by DJB Infrastructures and Developers India, an FDI company with many construction activities in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. With 1113 rooms, this will be a mixed used property, with 75 per cent of the rooms marketed as timeshare, in partnership with RCI. About 830 rooms will be for timeshare while there will 280 rooms for the hotel. The management contract will be for the hotel as well as timeshare rooms. ?The timeshare member and normal hotel guests should not be able to differentiate between the services. We won’t be managing ourselves, we will focus on our expertise, that is construction and marketing, and let someone else do the operational bit of it. We are in the process of identifying operators,? said Vikas Anand, executive director, DJB Infrastructures and Developers India. The first phase will be operational by 2017 end, and will include 370 odd rooms.

A part of the focused initiatives would be developing the Sikh pilgrim circuit in and around Amritsar. Attracting more visitors than even the Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple is the most popular destination for the NRI populace. ?A lot of people come down to Amritsar once or twice or sometimes thrice a year. Our target people is going to be the community which lives abroad and the Golden Temple is where a lot of people visit there irrespective of religion,? mentioned Anand.
