Private sector lender ING Vysya Bank, which will roll out about 150 new branches in the next three years, is aiming to grow its loan portfolio for agriculture in unbanked regions. At present, the bank has as many as 551 branches across the country, of which about 15% is in rural areas. ?Earlier, we had stopped branch expansion for couple of years. But now we want to be a pan-India bank. So, we are planning to open about 150 new branches in the next three years,? ING Vysya Bank country head (branch banking & private client group) Brett Morgan said on Tuesday.
Morgan said of the 150 new branches to be rolled out, about 50% would be in tier-I cities, 25% in unbanked new locations and remaining 25% in tier-III and IV cities.
He said the bank was looking at expanding its agriculture loan portfolio and expanding branch network in unbanked regions would help it take its agriculture credit plan forward. ?Agriculture is one of our key focus areas,? he maintained.
