Jai Ho box office collections: Salman Khan film is hardly a ‘flop’ with Rs 110 crore in kitty

‘Jai Ho’ is the first film to cross Rs 100-crore mark in box office collections in calendar year 2014.

The much-hyped Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho may have fallen short of expectations but it is hardly a ‘flop’. Jai Ho box office collections have reached Rs 110 crore, as per latest reports.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh’s tweets on Jai Ho box office collections: “#JaiHo Wknd 2 – 13.90 crore, Mon 2.25 crore, Tue 2.40 crore, Wed 1.80 crore, Thu 1.65 crore. Grand total: Rs 110.78 crore nett. India biz only.”

The Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore clubs have become the new benchmark of success in Bollywood. As such, there is an increased pressure on superstars to deliver. This time around, Salman Khan’s latest might not have done so well like his earlier ones as Jai Ho has ‘crawled’ a bit when it comes to collections at the box office, compared to Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom 3 and earlier releases like Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Krrish 3’ and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Chennai Express’. Jai Ho’, however, is the first film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in calendar year 2014.

Made on an approximate budget of Rs 75 crore, Jai Ho’s business has not been so bad if one counts the overseas collections.

Produced by Eros International in association with Sohail Khan Productionz and directed by Sohail Khan, Jai Ho also stars Tabu, Danny Denzongpa, Daisy Shah in pivotal roles. Jai Ho released worldwide on January 24.
