Jet Airways will increase capacity using the narrow-bodied Boeing 737 planes on both domestic and international routes from October. The airline will add 12 Boeing 737 planes this year but since six such planes in the existing fleet will be sent back to lessors as the lease term expires, the net addition in the narrow-body capacity will be six Boeing 737s.
?The net addition will be six planes, out of which four will be used on international routes,? said KG Vishwanath, Jet Airways? vice-president (investor relations) at an analyst call. He added that the airline has not further reduced capacity in the second quarter of FY14 and the incremental addition will take place from October.
Vishwanath said that Jet expects its international capacity to grow 10-12% this fiscal and it hopes to grow its international service using Abu Dhabi as a hub for its international flights.
