The 20th edition of the All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament will be held from September 25 to October 6 at PCA Stadium, Mohali, Sector 16 Stadium, Chandigarh, LIC Cricket Academy, Sector 26, Chandigarh, St John's School, Chandigarh and Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Panchkula. The tournament will be played under the aegis of Punjab Cricket Association and will see the participation of 16 teams from all over India. It will be played on league-cum-knockout basis and all the matches will be of 50 overs each innings. PCA panel of umpires and officials will officiate in the matches and the final will be played at Sector 16 Stadium. The winning team will get a cash prize of Rs two Lakh while the runners-up team will get a cash prize of Rs one Lakh. The teams will be divided in four pools and the top two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals. Mumbai Cricket Association, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, Baroda Cricket Association, Canara Bank, Indian Oil Corporation, Mumbai, BPCL Mumbai, Air India Delhi, Reliance Industries Mumbai, All India FCI Delhi, MRF, Chennai, CAG, Delhi, PCC, BSNL, MRF and ONGC, Delhi are some of the teams likely to figure in the tournament.’
Yuvraj enters next round
MOHALI: By the time the heaven opened and lashed the tricity, only a few players had come to play their respective matches in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament, being conducted by Total Tennis Academy, at British School School in Sector 70 on Tuesday. Despite the fact that it was an AITA Talent Series tournament, only a handful of players had managed to reach the venue on time as per the reporting time. So, only two matches could be played in the boys' Under-14 first round. Yuvraj Kooka thrashde Bhavuk Kukreja 8-1 while Sehaj Sidhu blanked Dharya Chadha 8-1.
