The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday allowed an average tariff increase of 32 paise per unit to the state’s electricity supply companies, about half the tariff increase requested by the Escoms for this fiscal. The five Escoms had pleaded for a 66 paise hike to cover an estimated revenue gap of Rs 2,220 crore for FY15, with expenditure projected at Rs 27,472 crore as against revenue of Rs 25,253 crore. They had faced a revenue gap of Rs 2,488 crore in the previous fiscal.
