Cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines, which hasn?t flown since October 1, has applied for renewal of its licence, according to a senior official in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. However, the airline?s flying licence which has been suspended will not be renewed till it submits a credible revival plan, the official added.
?They have applied for renewal but we won?t be giving them the licence till they submit a detailed revival plan,? a senior DGCA official said on Thursday. ?The airline has not yet come to us with a revival plan.?
Kingfisher?s licence expires on December 31, 2012. The licence was suspended on October 22.
As per the licence renewal regulations, if Kingfisher is unable to submit a revival plan by December 31, it can do so and apply for renewal within two years, the official added. The airline has been asked by the DGCA to furnish a concrete plan on its working capital, airworthiness of planes and settling of employees dues.
A Kingfisher spokesperson declined to comment on whether the airline has applied to licence renewal.
