Over the past few years, Asus has forayed into a series of hybrid devices. Among the first of these was the Transformer, an Android tablet with a keyboard, which now looks like a simple concept compared to some of the more recent hybrids launched by Asus, such as Padfone, a phone and a tablet with a keyboard.
The latest in this series of convertible devices is Transformer Book Trio, which costs Rs 98,099. The 11.6-inch device comprises a tablet that docks to a keyboard. The display has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels ant the tablet has an Intel Atom z2560 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, 64 GB storage and 2 GB RAM. The tablet has a 5-MP rear camera and a front camera.
This device can run Android Jelly Bean and Windows 8, and users can switch between the two at the tap of a button. To run Windows, the tablet needs to be docked to the keyboard.
The keyboard dock is not just another typing accessory, for it houses an Intel Haswell processor, HD 4400 graphics, 4 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. It has two USB 3.0 ports and a microHDMI port that lets users hook it up to an external display.
