At less than 1.4 kg, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon business laptop brings quality, strength and durability with a portable design. It supports an Intel Core i5-3427u processor that is clocked at 1.8 GHz and is power packed with turbo boost. It runs on Windows 7 and has a 14-inch 1600 x 900 pixel display. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon comes with its signature black matte ?ThinkPad? finish. It has a carbon fibre body that makes it look extremely rugged and ultra slim at the same time.
Company officials claim that the X1 Carbon validates the ruggedness, durability, and quality of ThinkPad products by testing against eight parameters: high pressure, humidity, vibration, high temperature, temperature shock, low pressure (15,000 ft), low temperature, and dust. Along with the carbon fibre roll cage and reinforcement throughout, the ensures durability. A carbon fibre roll cage with reinforcement throughout makes the X1 Carbon ultradurable, yet highly portable.
The ultrabook has an excellent graphics display, which is due to the presence of Intel HD 4000 graphics in it. The keyboard has well-spaced and comfortable keys. The fantastic backlit keyboard is also extremely comfortable for long typing sessions. Spill-resistant, six-row, island style keys enhance accuracy and comfort?plus backlit keyboard makes working in dark environments effortless. It has an excellent touchpad, which adds to the overall working experience on the laptop.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon has been very aesthetically designed. One interesting feature of the design is that the hinge, which is very durable, allows the screen to open
until the ultrabook is completely flat. As far as the connectivity of the device is concerned, all the major ports are placed on the right and left side of the chassis. You can find a power jack, a Wi-Fi switch, and a USB 2.0 port on one side of the X1 Carbon, and a headset jack mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0 port, and a 4-in-1 media card reader on the other side.
The ultrabook gives a power backup of five hours, which is extremely good and efficient. It intuitively limits the energy drain of idle processes and provides an extra surge of energy when needed most, stretching your system?s unplugged run-time to the maximum. The viewing angles of the Carbon X1 are good for a standard TN panel, but it would have been better if the ultrabook was made available with an IPS display.
Dual vents and new 2012 fan blade design deliver 28% increase in airflow, plus dust collection is minimised. As a result, select ThinkPad models provide better processing performance and system reliability by minimising system temperatures, as well as promoting a longer lifecycle.
Overall, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon gives a good performance and is much ahead of its arch rivals like Dell XPS 12, 14, and Asus Zenbook etc.
