Govt’s internal issues
This refers to the report “NHAI moves SC on MoEF roadblocks, forest approvals” (FE, January 10). Your editorial “NHAI versus MoEF” (FE, January 10) has pointed out the failure of the government to tackle issues. It is unfortunate that the bulk of pending cases in India's courts involve one government department or another. It is not only the failure of the government, but it is also surrendering the powers of governance to the judiciary. If the government fails, what do they have to do? We anxiously await whether this will change and the Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) will be able to solve the problems.
Planting a bomb inside the stomach of a CRPF Jawan who was killed by the Maoists in a brutal manner is truly the saddest thing and has to be condemned in the strongest possible words. This shows that those few barbaric people possessed with a killer instinct can go to any extent to achieve their selfish interests. Today, the country is at crossroads and there are forces both from within and outside that are out to destabilise the it. Containing terror and anti-social elements and eradicating deep-rooted corruption must always engage the top attention of government.
