The Videocon A55 HD looks elegant with a sleek finish and has been given an iPhone 5-like body and is priced at Rs 13,490 in India. However, the phone comes with a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixels display, similar to that of the Micromax Canvas HD. This Videocon phone is light, weighing just 114 grams. Only the Gionee E3 Life is lighter than this one, at 110 grams. This makes A55 HD easy to carry and even for a 5-inch handset, the phone does not feel bulky.

The A55 HD?s display is bright, crisp and offers decent viewing angles. It houses a quad-core Mediatek 6589 chipset based CPU, same as Canvas HD. However, unlike the Canvas HD, our experience with A55 HD was quite impressive with no obvious heating or lagging issues observed. The rear camera of 8 megapixel is average and can be used for quick shots for posting on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, etc. The front camera of 3.2 megapixel is more than handful for video calling and random self-shots.
The phone?s 2,000 mAh battery offers nothing extraordinary and unless you don?t use 3G/2G (highly unlikely these days), you would not have to carry a charger along with you.
In terms of benchmark scores, the A55 HD got 13243 on AnTuTu, 4037 on Quadrant, 28296 on An3d bench XL and 1459 on Vellamo. The same benchmarks on Canvas HD gave 12443 on AnTuTu, 3783 on Quadrant and Vellamo gave a score of 1428. Call quality is very nice and noise cancellation works like a charm. Camera is also of decent quality and video quality is impressive.
