Manchester United F.C. is banning fans from bringing iPads or other tablet devices into Old Trafford this season, saying the club is following the latest security intelligence.
Ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Valencia, an email was circulated to United supporters explaining that the list of prohibited items for match days now includes ''large electronic devices including laptops and tablets.''
Manchester United says the policy change will ''ensure the continued safety and security of all spectators.''
Football fans are increasingly using iPads and similar devices to take photographs and videos in stadiums, increasing fears that matches could be filmed and copyright laws could be broken.
No other English club is believed to have introduced such measures.
