Manchester United is close to adding Netherlands international Daley Blind to its lengthy list of summer recruits.
United says Saturday it has ''reached agreement with Ajax to sign Daley Blind, subject to a medical and personal terms.'' Sections of the English and Dutch media are reporting he will cost United 18 million euros ($23.6 million).
Blind was part of the Netherlands' World Cup squad coached by Louis van Gaal, who is now in charge of United, and can play in defense or midfield.
In overhauling a United team that finished a disappointing seventh in the Premier League last season, Van Gaal has spent about 130 million pounds ($215 million) on players this summer.
Argentina midfielder Angel Di Maria joined for a British-record fee of 59.7 million pounds ($99 million) Tuesday.
