Mardaani box office collections average, Singham Returns expected to take advantage

Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani has made an average start with its box office collections…

This week’s release Mardaani, that released across 1250 screens and sees Rani Mukerji in an action packed avatar, has made a very average start with its box office collections. This is in stark contrast to last week’s release ‘Singham Returns’, featuring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, which worked wonders with its box-office collections.

Now, all Rani Mukerji can hope for is that word of mouth is in her favour and it turns out to be the decisive factor on the final verdict.

Simultaneously, the other releases ‘Mad About Dance’ and ‘Life Is Beautiful’ do not even come close to a respectable opening, thanks to the limited number of shows that again are restricted to certain cineplex chains.

On the other hand, Hollywood release ‘The Expendables 3’ that was expected to do well, has suffered a poor start at the box office too.

That means competition for ‘Singham Returns’ has not cropped up, unlike what Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ faced (where Ajay Devgn’s film popped-up and caused Sallu bhai’s collections to dip) and that means Ajay Devgn stands to benefit ? even though his movie has shown a dip in business in its second week.
