Bookings of Maruti Ciaz has already commenced with an upfront payment of Rs 21,000.

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled its upcoming mid-sized sedan Ciaz for the Indian market. It is a comeback from Maruti Suzuki after SX4 sedan failed to make the grade in the populated C-segment. Company already revealed much about the car and now it has been confirmed from some sources that the new sedan will be launching on coming October 10th. Well, this could be the good news for the people searching for a sedan but wanted to stick to the most trusted brand in the country. Bookings of the car has already commenced with an upfront payment of INR 21,000.

Lets talk something about the new Ciaz. The car as mentioned above is a mid-sized sedan which will be pitted against segment leader Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Renault Scala, Ford Fiesta and Nissan Sunny, etc. As per the official information, Ciaz will be available in four petrol (V, V+, Z, Z+) trims and diesel trims would be named as ?X? instead of ?D?. Also the top of the line variant, unlike the Maruti products, will get ZXI+ and ZDI+ variants. Under the hood, the car will employ a 1.3L Fiat sourced Multijet diesel engine that produces 89bhp and 200Nm of max torque, while the petrol variants will be powered by 1.4L K10B powertrain generating an output of 91.18bhp and peak torque of 130Nm. In terms of transmission, the petrol variants gets option of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox while the diesel variant will get 5-speed manual transmission system.

In the mileage demanding country like India, every new product comes with deep research and analysis and the C-segment is the one which is even more demanding. Maruti claims that the new Ciaz will be delivering ARAI certified mileage of 26.3 kmpl, that’s a straight challenge to the ruling Honda City which is acclaimed for its outstanding mileage. The petrol variant on the other hand is frugal too, returning excellent mileage of 20.73kmpl.

We have known much about the exteriors from the past as Ciaz is based on the Alivio concept revealed at the Auto China 2014. The car looks more mature and aggressive than its predecessor with front facade having trapezoidal grille with chrome highlights, projector headlamps with LED daytime lights and the company logo in the middle. The side profile boasts of aerodynamic attitude with lines extending across the sides of the sedan with sporty alloy wheels creating dynamism on road. The 15-inch alloy wheels comes as standard across the variants while the top end variants will be getting wheels in 16-inch size. Rear gets stylish with sleek chrome strip connecting the tail lamps while the black inserts on the rear bumper looks attractive. Also one can choose Ciaz from seven different color options. Dimension wise it will be the most spacious, as claimed by the company, measuring 4490mm in length, 1730mm in width and 1485mm in height.

If we go just by company?s statement, it would be enough to figure about the interiors of the car. Maruti says that Ciaz will be the ?most feature rich? sedan from the maker in the Indian market till date. And honestly speaking, the list is quite long. The cabin is dressed in black and beige color combination with faux premium dark wood highlights that shines with silver touch-ups. The central console gets Suzuki?s ?SmartPlay? 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel that allows Bluetooth telephony, Satellite Navigation, smartphone integration, voice command controlling along with plenty of portable jacks like USB, Bluetooth and Aux-In to sit back and relax with favorite music. Adjacent to the screen shows the visuals of rear parking camera. Creature comfort features seems to be utmost in the car with addition of AC with automatic climate control and rear AC vents. The car also gets window blinds, rear sunshade and personal reading lamp, keyless entry system, push engine start/stop switch and three spoke multi-functional steering wheel which also gets wrapped up in leather in the top-end variants. The driver seat at the front gets manual height adjustment functionality while the back angle adjustment can be done through a lever. The car in terms of safety gets ABS with EBD and dual front airbags.

The new car is expected to be priced in between INR 7 to 8 lakh for petrol variants and between INR 8 to 10 lakh for diesel variants. According to analysts, the festive season has always prove to be a boon for Indo-Japanese carmaker. May be Ciaz could be the lucky one in this respect. Lets wait and watch for the grand event.
