The body of a 20-year-old German woman, who had gone missing from CR Park on October 2, was found on the railway tracks in Faridabad on Thursday. Haryana police said a Shatabdi driver claimed to have seen the woman jump in front of the train. Police suspect suicide, but they are the findings of the post-mortem report.
The woman, Judith Aino Enhas, had come to the country two months ago and was working with an NGO in Kalkaji. A missing person’s complaint had been filed at the CR Park police station by Judith’s friends when she did not return home on Wednesday.
Neighbours said they hardly knew Judith, as she kept to herself. She was living with two friends.
“The two friends have told us that on Wednesday morning she seemed fine. They had asked her to accompany them to Rajpath where they were going to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. She said she was unwell and would stay at home. Her phone was switched off the whole day. She was not at home and did not return at night. Her friends went to the CR Park police station and lodged a complaint,” a police officer said.
Faridabad police said the body was found on Wednesday night, about two km from the Delhi-Badarpur border. Police recovered a mobile phone.
A S Chawla, Commissioner of Police (Faridabad), said: “The German embassy has identified her body. Preliminary investigations reveal that she committed suicide.”
Ashok, SP (Railways), Ambala said: “Her body was found on October 2. The German embassy has informed her parents. Her body will be sent for post-mortem examination to the Civil Hospital and will then be referred to PGI, Rohtak. The SHO Railways had questioned one of the railway drivers and he confirmed that she had jumped before a Shatabdi. Initial investigations reveal that she was depressed and it appears to be a case of suicide.”
