Google Doodle celebrates Winter Olympics 2018, here is what search engine giant has come up with

Google Doodle today celebrated the day 2 of the winter games that has commenced in South Korea’s PyeongChang.

Google Doodle today celebrated the day 2 of the winter games that has commenced in South Korea’s PyeongChang since February 9 and will continue till February 25. North Korea has also decided to participate in the event. The doodle shows magpie, a turtle considered good a symbol of good luck symbol in South Korea. The Google had also celebrated with a doodle on day one of the winter games.

It was the first in a series of 17 doodles from the search engine giant, dedicated to the winter games that will see more than 2,000 athletes from 92 countries competing each other in over 100 events. Teams that are participating for the first time in the event are Eritrea, Ecuador, Malaysia, Kosovo, Singapore and Nigeria.

Earlier on January 31, it also honoured Kamala Das with a doodle. Kamala was one of the finest short story writer and poet in the country. She wrote on a number of issues which were related to child care, politics and politics among them. The writer was born in Thrissur District of Kerala on March 31, 1934, to V M Nair, a former managing editor of Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi, and Nalapat Balamani Amma, a renowned Malayali poet. She spent her childhood between Calcutta, where her father was working in the Walford Transport Company and ancestral home in Punnayurkulam.

After having suffered from acute diabetes and related illnesses, Kamala passed away at the age of 75 in Pune on May 31, 2009. She had also won numerous awards including Sahitya Academy awards in 1984. The same month, Google also honoured one of the famous writers of the twentieth century, Virginia Woolf, with a doodle on the occasion of her 136th birthday. Google celebrated her iconic profile surrounded by falling autumn leaves, which used to be the visual theme in her work very often.
