Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav has assured cabinet minister Azam Khan of all support in fulfilling his dream project — a medical college at Jauhar University in Rampur.
Mulayam’s assurance came in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav while speaking at a free laptop distribution function at Jauhar University in Rampur Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh and Mulayam were to lay the foundation stone of the medical college at a function that was cancelled. A dejected Azam said: “The Nawab family does not want a medical college in Rampur because they are against education. Several RTIs are being filed and cases are lodged, so I have shelved the programme.”
Nawab Kazim Ali Khan alias Naved Miyan, the Congress MLA from Swar constituency, has filed RTIs with the District Magistrate seeking the status of the land meant for the medical college on the Jauhar University campus.
Mulayam told Azam: “You should not worry and keep doing your work. When signatures are done, they cannot be erased. Don’t worry about the money, I will give it to you. I will ask our party MLAs and MPs to donate. I will even organise public rallies and ask for donation,” Mulayam stated.
He also asked CM Akhilesh Yadav to extend all possible help to Azam in his projects.
