The scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mysore, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, died here on Tuesday afternoon following a cardiac arrest. He was sixty years old, and leaves behind his wife Maharani Pramoda Devi Avaru.
Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, who represented the Mysore Parliamentary constituency four times with the Congress Party, shifted his allegiance to BJP before returning back to the fold. He was recently elected as president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, in a very hotly contested election.
The royal family member succeeded his father Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, the last ruling Maharaja of Mysore in 1974, although his was only a titular role.
Wodeyar was an integral part of the famous Dasara festival in Mysore and was also involved in fashion designing.
