The Union Government will create a separate Ministry for promoting entrepreneurship and skill development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here today.
"A separate Ministry, which will look after promoting entrepreneurship and skill development, would be created. Even developed countries have accorded priority to promoting skilled manpower," he said addressing a gathering of 150 special invitees in a star hotel here.
Nearly 65 per cent population of the country is below 35 years of age and promotion of skill development will provide ample job opportunities to educated unemployed youth not only in India but abroad as well, he said.
The Prime Minister said his Government was firm on implementing austerity measures as part of efforts to reduce expenditure and boost economic growth.
He favoured inviting large-scale Foreign Direct Investment to revive growth. "Foreign countries are now keen to invest in India," the Prime Minister said, adding our focus should be to provide basic amenities to all citizens.
He said the country will complete 75 years of independence in 2022, and in order to accomplish the dream and vision of our freedom fighters, the Government will provide houses to all by that year with facilities such as water, electricity and toilets.
As part of celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (in 2019), the Union Government will launch a nationwide cleanliness drive, Modi said.
"Our Government will fulfil the people's aspirations and expectations. This is a nation of honest people," he said and exuded confidence the country will get rid of corruption.
