The ministry of corporate affairs should become an enabling ministry that facilitates growth and creates a framework for easier investments, said new corporate affairs minister Sachin Pilot on Monday.

The ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) should become an enabling ministry that facilitates growth and creates a framework for easier investments, said new corporate affairs minister Sachin Pilot on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after taking charge, Pilot said his effort will be to reduce red tapism and the systemic time lag in decision making. Pilot said he will ensure the Companies Bill, 2011 is presented in Parliament at the earliest.

Pilot assumes charge at a time when the ministry is looking into allegations of corporate wrongdoing including cases related to Purti Power and Sugar which is controlled by BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s firm. Pilot said he will work towards creating a culture of transparency in governance. He also said the credibility of government as well as institutions should be maintained at all costs. “I don’t want to be someone who creates an atmosphere of suspicion or finger-pointing or allegations of creating mistrust,” he said.
