The IT-ITES and IT hardware sector accounted for 14,000 new jobs in Bangalore against 10,600 new jobs generated in the sector in the previous quarter, registering a quarter-on-quarter growth of over 30%.

The sector was also the highest employment generator in the country with more than 58,000 new jobs that represents over 42% of the total new job generation, clocking an overall growth rate of over 12% in the second quarter. The sector had created over 49,500 new jobs in the previous quarter. Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) was ranked as the second-highest job generating sector with over 22,900 new jobs and the sector together has clocked a growth rate of over 32%, it said.

Assocham said its team tracked data on a daily basis for vacancies posted by over 3,000 companies on various job portals, advertisements in job supplements of national and regional dailies and news journals for 56 cities and 32 sectors offering employment opportunities across India. At least 61% of the jobs were created in the top five metros, it said. The sector-specific analysis on job trends said that a total of 1.25 lakh new jobs had been created across the country during the previous quarter.
