The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is likely to withdraw its plea against the ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) before the Supreme Court in view of the intervention by the Prime Minister?s Office (PMO) to maintain peace between the warring departments.

Confirming the news, ministry sources said the PMO has asked MoEF to streamline the government policies in such a manner that no hurdles are created in the road development programmes.

?The environment ministry has agreed to streamline the clearance processes for the road sector and has assured to come out with a clarity on the issue soon. Meanwhile, NHAI has also agreed to withdraw its application alleging stalling of its projects by MoEF,? the source said.
