Union coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said on Tuesday that there would be no re-allocation of coal blocks deallocated by the inter-ministerial group (IMG).
?My ministry has no authority to reallocate the coal mines deallocated by the IGM based on non-performance?, he said while talking to mediapersons. He, however, clarified that his ministry had to re-allocate coal mines to NTPC because of a previous commitment made to the state-run power-generating company.
When asked why there hasn?t been any deallocation of coal blocks allocated to private houses, Jaiswal said, ?I do not keep records of private companies.?
Jaiswal also ruled out the re-allocation of coal blocks to the Orissa government-owned PSUs, saying the ministry had no such commitments. He, however, said that the coal ministry would consider any fresh proposals by the state government. The Orissa government had urged the Centre to reallocate coal blocks to state-run PSUs for meeting the demand of the thermal power and steel industries.
