State Bank of India (SBI), Kolkata Circle has undertaken a special drive to finance ‘No Refusal Taxis’, which are expected to ply throughout the state.

Earlier, ‘No Refusal Taxis’ was launched on a pilot-basis in Kolkata, Howrah and North 24 Parganas. The scheme was successful and was a positive move for generating employment and enhancing convenience.

Now the Government of West Bengal has planned to extend the scheme to cover several other areas of the state.

The transport department of Government of West Bengal has sanctioned permit to 2,000 taxis in the first phase, and SBI has financed around 750 of them.

SBI is financing up to 93% of the on-road price of the vehicle and is charging no processing fee

With add-on features like installation of POS machines in the taxi, the passengers can use their Debit/Credit Cards to pay their taxi bill.
