With no clear response from the Nokia India management forthcoming despite attempts to get clarifications on the recent Supreme Court judgment as well as on guarantee of their jobs, the union also decided to move the Tamil Nadu labour department.

“The workers union, Nokia India Thozhilalar Sangam, is holding parleys with legal luminaries as well as the people concerned on this issue about how to quickly resolve the problem, particularly the fate of their jobs. With no response from the Nokia India management and the approaching deadline on the merger, the union can no longer wait,” M Saravanakumar, president of the union, told FE.
