We maintain ?outperform? rating on Godrej Consumer Products Ltd with a target price of Rs 800 per share. We maintain our positive stance on GCPL given its multiple growth levers and believe a further correction in the stock price (15% correction in last one month) will provide an attractive accumulating opportunity. Despite of a weak demand environment and the seasonal impact on household insecticide segment, domestic volume growth for GCPL at 10% is ahead of HPC peers. Further, with price increases and cost rationalisation underway, margins both in the domestic as well as international business will gradually improve in the coming quarters. We believe GCPL has the levers in place ? right management, right markets and right categories ? to more double its size over the next 3-4 years.
The company reported sales growth of 17% at Rs 1,979 crore, ebitda growth of 9% at Rs 295 crore and adjusted PAT growth of 14% at Rs 196 crore. Overall growth in the domestic business at 13% was lower by 100 bps on account of the termination of contract manufacturing for brands like Kiwi and Ambipur and Brylcream that the company had sold in the last 18 months. Growth was led by hair colours, which grew 37% in spite of the anniversary of the Cr?me launch. Soaps growth of 6% was all volume driven; pricing growth is likely in the quarters to follow.
Gross margins contracted 140 bps to 53.3%, led by a 70 bps contraction in domestic margins and a 240 bps fall in international margins at 55.1%. The contraction in gross margins will narrow as price increases in Indonesia and India result offset the input cost inflation.
