Although students of Sat Paul Mittal School were on cloud nine because of the Presidential visit to their school, they were disappointed at not getting an opportunity to interact with Pranab Mukherjee. While the primary class students were all curious to ask him questions and see him, senior section students wanted a nice interaction with the President.
Rushank Goyal, a student of Class XI, said, It was a proud feeling to have him at our school. Listening to him live is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I really liked his inspirational speech.
Another student on condition of anonymity said, There should have been an interactive session for children with him. Last time when ex-President A P J Abdul Kalam came, he made it a point to interact with schoolchildren personally. So this time we were expecting Mukherjee to interact with students of our school but only five students were selected to talk to him.
A second class student said he wanted to ask him for more schools in our country.
Addressing the children, Mukherjee said, When I visited my own school as an ex-student, students asked me to give them a simple advice. All I told them was love your school, believe in your teachers and obey them because it is the only thing which will give you every success in life.
Mukherjee said I came into politics accidentally and my conscience still lies with teaching profession when I come across young bright minds. He added that right teacher-student ratio is very important for excellent education system as personal touch of a teacher matters the most for a child.
