PSEB class XII results: Head mason?s daughter scores 8th position in state

Third position in the district is grabbed by Kamalpreet Kaur with 96% marks.

Scoring 96.67% per cent marks, Hardeep Kaur has topped in Ludhiana district in PSEB class XII exams and bagged 8th position in the state.

A student of non-medical stream, she loves mathematics but she does not want to go in for engineering. She is now aiming to do BSc non-medical and compete for IAS. Daughter of a Rajmistri (head mason) who earns Rs 500 a day by doing construction work, she is a student of RS Model Senior Secondary School.

Ishpreet Singh, who is second in Ludhiana and first in humanities group by scoring 96.22%, too wants to be an IAS officer and wants to do graduation. He is also a student of RS Model Senior Secondary School. He is a player of handball as well. Ishpreet?s father is a teacher of physical education at government school and hence his love for sports is obvious. His mother is a teacher as well.

Third position in the district is grabbed by Kamalpreet Kaur with 96% marks. She is a non-medical student from RS Model Senior Secondary School. She is not interested in becoming an engineer. Harmeet Kaur, a student of Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School, Dholewal Chowk, is first in commerce stream in the district with 95.56%.

Kanika Gupta of Bharti Vidya Mandir (BVM) Senior Secondary School is also from science stream with 11th position in the state while Simran Grewal of PAU Senior Secondary School is too at the same position. She too is from science stream. Grewal is preparing for common entrance exam of PAU to do BSc in agriculture.

Toppers this year are more interested in preparing for IAS rather than appearing for pre-engineering and pre-medical tests. High fee structure of the medical and engineering colleges and less salaries after completion of degrees is the reason for this switch for the medical and non-medical students who are interested in doing BSc in agriculture or BSc honours.

This year three students of Government School, PAU, figure on the merit list and Grewal is one of them. Balbir Kaur, teacher of this school, said, ?More and more students are interested in doing graduation rather than engineering. Students get meagre salaries after spending lakhs. So this is a shift being seen aong non-medical students this year.? The other merit holders of BVM are Navjot Bhatowa at 18th position, Shikha Gupta at 20th position and Aarush at 22nd position.
