Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Queen’ is going rock steady with box office collections of Rs 40 crore in two weeks, leaving ‘Gulaab Gang’ and ‘Total Siyapaa’ far behind. Queen, which released on March 7, continues to get decent footfalls in most theatres.
Queen’s box office collections in second week were Rs 2.40 cr (Friday), Rs 4.20 cr (Saturday), Rs 4.85 cr (Sunday), Rs 3.30 cr (Monday), Rs 2.05 crore (Tuesday), Rs 1.75 cr (Wednesday), Rs 1.75 cr (Thursday) with the grand total (India business) of Rs 40 cr nett.
While Queen’s opening day collections were just Rs 1.80 crore, it picked up later to finish the first week with the business of Rs 18.80 crore nett.
?’Queen’ almost saw a similar situation like ‘Bewakoofiyaan’ on the first day, but the strong word of mouth publicity certainly helped the film,? stated Trade expert Vinod Mirani, adding that the film collected Rs 2 crore on an average on the second Friday, taking the collections to Rs 20.30 crore all India nett (first week collections being Rs 18.80 crore).
Taran Adarsh agrees and mentioned that the film saw a phenomenal growth in business during the first week. ?Surprisingly, Queen’s box office collections were bigger in second week than the first week,? Adarsh added.
“#Queen Week 2 is BIGGER than Week 1. Unbelievable and unimaginable in today’s times. AWESOME!,? Tweeted Adarsh.

According to Mayank Shroff, manager (programming and marketing), Cinepolis, the average occupancy at Cinepolis multiplexes was around 60-70 percent, which is good for a film in its second week.
The other two releases, ‘Gulaab Gang’ and ‘Total Siyapaa’, are slowly being phasing out in the multiplexes. While Total Siyapaa has been pulled off, ‘Gulaab Gang’ has been given one-two shows on an average. ?Both the films did not see any growth. During the weekdays, only a handful of people would turn up for ‘Gulaab Gang’. Both the films have fared poorly,? mentioned Mirani.
Shroff stated that while ‘Total Siyapaa’ is discontinued in most centres, it is still given one show in North India and Punjab.
