Tata Power said there was a fire incident on the turbine and generator deck of the 250 MW unit at Trombay. The company said there were no casualties due to the incident. ?The power generation from the rest of the units of Trombay Thermal Power Station remains unaffected,? Tata Power said in a regulatory filing on Friday. The company is yet to ascertain the extent of damage, but added that it will ensure that alternate power supply is maintained.

Borg Energy to invest $45 million in India

Borg Energy, a solar power solutions provider, plans to invest $45 million (R279 crore) in India on projects including a rural electrification programme. The investments are likely to be made in next six months. The company, which entered the country last year, is in advanced discussions with some states in North India for a rural electrification programme. This project is expected to cost about $25 million, Borg Energy India?s MD (Asia Pacific) Boaz Augustin Jr said. The company is also looking to invest $20 million for various EPC projects and plans to set up an R&D plant in the country.

Toyota launches new versions of Etios, Liva

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Friday launched refreshed versions of its sedan Etios and hatchback Etios Liva, priced between R5.53 lakh and R8.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new versions will now sport features like dual front airbags, tachometer, rear defogger and wiper among others. The petrol version of Etios sedan is priced between R5.53 lakh and R7.23 lakh while the diesel version carries a retail price tag in the range of R6.82 lakh and R8.30 lakh. Etios Liva is priced between R4.53 lakh and R6.23 lakh for the petrol version, while the diesel versions are priced from R5.92 lakh to R7.12 lakh (all ex-showroom Delhi).

US brand Hartmann to come to India by March

Amercian luggage brand Hartmann will be launched in India this year with the first store expected to be opened at Mumbai airport in March. Samsonite South Asia, makers of two well known brands ? Samsonite and American Tourister, which had acquired Hartmann, will introduce the brand in India by March, according to Leo Suh, executive vice-president Asia, Samsonite Asia. ?The brand will be launched in second or third quarter with the first outlet to be opened at Mumbai airport after the inauguration of the new terminal by march this year, followed by an outlet at Delhi airport by the year-end,? Leo said.

Google to bring Shoppable Hangout to India, partners

Google will unveil its ?Shoppable Hangout? in the country on January 20, which will allow users to interact with each other and shop online simultaneously. Google has partnered with Myntra.com and Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan to bring Shoppable Hangout on Google+ to India, a statement said on Friday. Using this, designers or retailers can publicly broadcast a multi-person video chat about their products while customers simultaneously browse through catalogues.

?Worldwide PC shipments decline 6.9% in Oct-Dec?

Worldwide personal computer (PC) shipments declined for the seventh consecutive quarter in the October-December period of 2013, totalling 82.6 million units, preliminary results by Gartner said on Friday. The preliminary figures showed a 6.9% decline from the fourth quarter of 2012, when the shipments totalled 88.7 million. For the year, PC shipments were 315.9 million units, a 10% decline from 2012. “This is the worst decline in PC market history, equal to the shipment level in 2009,” Gartner said.
