British luxury brand Burberry met forecasts with an 8% rise in annual profit, though it reiterated that if foreign exchange rates remain at current levels there will be a material impact on 2014-15 profit. China?s government is inviting private companies to participate in 80 major national projects, spanning energy, information and infrastructure, according to a list published by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). UK retail sales surge for third month in April

UK retail sales increased for a third month in April as a buoyant property market bolstered spending on household goods and price discounting saw food sales rise at the fastest pace in three years. Sales including auto fuel surged 1.3% from March, when they rose an upwardly revised 0.5%, the Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday in London. That compared with a forecast for an increase of 0.4%, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. Sales jumped 6.9% in April from a year earlier, the most since May 2004.
