Datsun, the Nissan sub-brand that was resurrected earlier this year and made its global debut in India, will use the parent company?s sales network in the country when it launches its first model, the ?Go? compact hatch, in early 2014. In all, Datsun plans three models for India ? the Go will be followed by the Go+ compact MPV and a second hatchback that is yet to be named.
TCS bags contract from Hungary depository
IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services has been selected by Hungary?s Central Securities Depository, Keler, for the market infrastructure solution of TCS BaNCS for modernising its technology and to set up its capability for T2S settlement. The TCS BaNCS solution will provide Keler with a modern, standards-compliant, multi-asset, multi-entity solution that will enable the company to quickly introduce new products and services to its market participants and engage with its stakeholders better through faster reporting and communication.
Voltas bags 3 West Asia projects worth R1,000 cr
Tata group air-conditioning and engineering services firm Voltas said it has bagged three overseas project orders worth R1,000 crore in West Asia. The first project is for a 120-bed integrated health centre and workers’ hospital in Qatar. The second one is for a sports hall and administrative office in a 5,350-seat indoor stadium being built to host the World Cup Handball Competition scheduled for January 2015 in the country, the company said in a statement. The third project is for a 5-Star hotel, the Kempinski Wave in Muscat.
L&T sells 0.06% stake in L&T Finance for R7.68 cr
Engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said on Tuesday that it sold 0.06% in L&T Finance Holdings for R7.68 crore. L&T sold 10,00,554 shares in its financial services arm on November 25 though the National Stock Exchange and the BSE, the company said in a filing. Following the transaction, L&T has 141.19 crore shares, or 82.2% stake, in L&T Finance Holdings. L&T sold 7.06 lakh shares through the NSE, which fetched R5.42 crore. It received R2.26 core by selling 2.94 lakh shares on the BSE.
Largest AC compressor plant in India starts
Shanghai Hitachi, a JV between Highly Group and Hitachi AP, on Tuesday commissioned India?s largest AC compressor plant in Ahmedabad, which has a capacity of 2 million sets per annum. The facility, set up over an area of 33,000 square metres for an investment of $ 72 million, was inaugurated by Saurabh Patel, minister of energy & petrochemicals, Gujarat. The move is part of the $1.1-billion-dollar Chinese major’s strategy to expand its presence in the global arena of the AC market, particularly in the BRICS countries.
India ranks 83rd globally in talent competitiveness
Indicating acute shortage of skilled workforce, India has been ranked 83rd globally in terms of talent competitiveness of its human capital while Switzerland has topped the charts. In the list of 103 countries, compiled by INSEAD business school in partnership with Adecco and Human Capital Leadership Institute of Singapore (HCLI), Switzerland is followed by Singapore, Denmark, Sweden and Luxembourg in top five ranks. The UK and the US are ranked 7th and 9th, respectively, while Netherlands (6th), Finland (8th) and Iceland (10th) also made it to the top-10. The Global Talent Competitiveness Index ranking was heavily dominated by European countries.
