BJP demands Alagiri's removal from Cabinet
BJP has demanded removal of MK Alagiri as Union Minister for chemicals and fertilisers in the wake of police registering cases against him and some DMK workers on charges of assaulting an election official and a videographer at a village in the district. Talking to reporters here last evening, BJP national secretary P Muralidhar Rao said, “Democracy is facing a threat in Tamil Nadu with even election officials not being able to discharge their duties.”
Cong high-command will choose Kerala CM: Mistry
AICC general secretary in-charge of Kerala Madhusoodan Mistry on Sunday said the question who would be chief minister of the state if Congress-led UDF was voted to power would be decided by MLA's and party high-command after the April 13 assembly polls. Talking to reporters here, he said Opposition leader Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala were competent to run the government. DMK conspiring against officials in Madurai: CPI
CPI has charged ruling DMK with conspiring against honest officials in Madurai district and working to transfer them so it could distribute cash to voters ahead of the April 13 Assembly polls. Speaking to reporters here, Party state secretary C Mahendran alleged that union minister M K Alagiri had violated the model code of conduct on April 1 when a large number of DMK workers assembled for his election campaign at Keelavalavu and some attacked Election Commission officials who tried to record it. He alleged that DMK was 'using' a Revenue Divisional Officer to get the Collector transferred so that money could be distributed.
