TVS Motor Company on Saturday reported a 32.15% increase in total sales at 2,03,092 units in July 2014. The company had sold 1,53,676 units in the same month last year, TVS Motor Company said. Two-wheeler sales surged 32% to 1,94,128 units in July as against 1,46,671 units in the same month a year ago. Domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 1,64,571 units, up 30%, from 1,26,531 units in the year-ago period. Scooters sales grew 64% to 60,619 units in July as against 36,900 units in the month last year. Sales of three-wheelers grew by 28% at 8,964 units in July as against 4,712 units in July 2013. Exports in the month grew 41%.

Godrej Properties net surges 16%

Realty firm Godrej Properties on Saturday reported 16% increase in its consolidated net profit to R45.61 crore for the quarter ended June on higher sales. Net profit stood at R39.47 crore in the year-ago period. Income rose by 49% to R363 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal compared with R244 crore in the same period of the previous year, Godrej Properties, realty firm of the Godrej Group, said. In the quarter ended June, sales bookings rose to R824 crore from R606 crore in the year-ago period. In volume terms, sales bookings increased to 1.09 million sqft from 0.6 million sqft in the period under review.

Godfrey Phillips profit up 3 times

Cigarette-maker Godfrey Phillips India on Saturday reported over three-fold jump in standalone net profit at R80.19 crore for the first quarter ended June 30. It had reported a standalone net profit of R23.35 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Net sales rose to R683.29 crore, up 13.86%, from R600.07 crore in the same period last fiscal, the company said in a filing. Overall expenses stood at R583.22 crore, against R558.51 crore in the same period last year. Godfrey Phillips said the government's decision to hike excise duty “may have a bearing on the financial performance of the company in the remaining year”.
