Review: Nothing is impossible for Mary Kom

The Mary Kom album opens with Ziddi Dil, which happens to be the full of zest anthem of this album

Music director: Shashi – Shivamm

Label: Zee Music Company

While most would wonder what is the importance of music in a

biopic, we feel that it certainly plays an integral part in shaping up the final product and adding the right buzz. Thankfully, the music of Mary Kom performs well in that department. Despite taking a risk of signing newbies Shashi Suman and Shivamm, the music composers have done a fairly good job, with lyricists Prashant Ingole and Sandeep Singh doing their part well.

The album opens with Ziddi Dil, which happens to be the full of zest anthem of this album, where singer Vishal Dadlani takes the song to another level. This motivational number tells the story of a sports person’s will-power and her fight against all odds to achieve the ultimate. The song maintains a good pace and keeps you hooked throughout. The hookline, Dil yeh ziddi hai, is extremely catchy. We bet it will keep ringing in your ears even after you hear this number. Arijit Singh always manages to create magic with his soft, romantic renditions and he does perfect justice to the genre yet again in Sukoon mila. The breezy, well-paced track has a calming effect. With very little use of instruments and mostly only the piano dominating the background, the composition is well-balanced with the use of the saxophone and guitar. We like the way Singh has crooned the number in his signature style. Sandeep Singh’s lyrics are simple yet very effective in this composition.

Sunidhi Chauhan’s rendition of Adhure is good and the singer croons the number with great ease. This soft contemporary number, which is dominated by the strumming of the guitar, is easy on the ears. We like! Mohit Chauhan comes next with Teri Baari, composed by Shashi and penned by Prashant. It’s a simple track with an average composition, while the lyrics are filled with inspirational lines, that pushes the protagonist to fly away to glory. Singh comes back with Saudebaazi, again by Shashi and written by Prashant.

Again, another contemporary track, but here, piano beats, drums and the chorus dominate. It’s a feel good number, which will definitely make you smile. Feeling low?

Then this is the perfect number to cheer you up. Shivam and Sandeep come together for Salaam India, which has singers Vishal Dadlani and Salim Merchant coming together to present another motivational number, which is energetic and fierce. We think this song will fit well in the narrative.

Shashi-Sandeep come together for Chaoro, a soft lullaby which is very well sung by Priyanka Chopra. She sings the important lines, which describes the protagonist’s child, with great emotions. Although it is just a 2 minute 33 second track, Chaoro does create an impact. Although the album does not deliver an instant chartbuster, it does have well composed numbers which are hummable and the efforts put in by the composers does pay off.
