Reliance Infrastructure on Thursday said it has tied up with US-based Innovari Inc for the pilot implementation of the Automatic Demand Response (ADR) programme in its licensed distribution area. ?RInfra?s high-end consumers can now voluntarily control their unwarranted power consumption and reduce their monthly electricity bills,? the company said.
Essar Ports posts 48% rise in net at R101.4 crore
Ruias-promoted Essar Ports reported a 48% increase in net profit at R101.4 crore for the quarter ended June, from a profit of R68.5 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company handled 11% higher cargo during the quarter that helped the company lift its revenue. Essar Ports clocked in 22% higher revenue at R403.7 crore during the first quarter, from R330.3 crore of revenue in the corresponding period last year.
MindTree posts 71.48% jump in net on forex gain
MindTree on Thursday posted a 71.48% sequential jump in net profit largely buoyed by foreign exchange gain of R61.7 crore for the first-quarter ended June, while on a year-on-year basis it grew by 52%. The company also announced a salary increase in the range of 6-8% to its employees. The software-services firm reported a net profit of R135.3 crore during the April-June period of 2013 against R78.9 crore in the sequential quarter. However, the company had a foreign exchange loss of R15.3 crore during the preceding January-March quarter.
Sify bounces back to black, net at R16.3 cr
Sify Technologies has posted a net profit of R16.3 crore for the first quarter against a net loss of R1.6 crore in the previous quarter last fiscal. Revenue stood at R263 crore against R197 crore posting an increase of 13%. Ebitda for the quarter was at R46.5 crore compared with R18.5 crore, logging an increase of 151% over the same period last year. While Sify?s domestic data services grew by 29% over same quarter last year, the wholesale voice services grew by 34%.

2 AI pilots suspended for allowing actress in cockpit
Two Air India pilots have been suspended after they allowed a south Indian actress to sit inside the cockpit mid-air on a Bangalore-Hyderabad flight in flagrant violation of safety norms. ?Both pilots have been suspended and taken off the roster. An inquiry is going on,? airline officials said, adding that the matter came to light after a passenger lodged a complaint with the airline.
