Saying that he is a “swayamsewak” of the RSS, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh clarified that RSS always talks about human beings and never differentiates on the basis of caste, creed and religion. On former UP CM Mayawati’s allegations of RSS being a “non-constitutional” authority, he said that she did not know about the RSS.
Talking to The Indian Express, Singh said the philosophy of RSS is against of all forms of discrimination. “I am a swayamsewak of RSS. Most of the ministers of this government are swayamsewaks. We have learnt from RSS that we should never allow any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or religion to anybody in this country. That is the philosophy of RSS.”
Singh also criticised Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for her allegations that the NDA government was “orchestrating” communal riots. “How can the Central government be held responsible for riots in a state?” he asked. While the Home minister conceded that there is rise in communal riots, particularly in UP, he held that the SP government in the state was solely responsible.
“SP is running UP government and if the riots are increasing the state government is responsible for that,” he said.
