The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approached the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) for a meeting that would allow the regulator to assess itself on its progress after the US regulator downgraded India?s aviation safety ratings from the top to the second category earlier this year.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, minister of state (civil aviation) GM Siddeshwara said DGCA has approached FAA for a meeting to provide it a status report of the progress made on each of it findings, so as to schedule its revisit to India. ?In all, 35 regular flight operations inspectors have been appointed. Of them, 14 have joined so far,? he said.
